Caring for your bag.
Take Care.
Your bag is made from natural materials. So it needs a bit more love.
Marks, Scratches and Scuffs: Vegetable tanned leather is not coated or chemically treated so the patina will deepen and change over time, rewarding you for your continued use. This means any marks or scratches will eventually become part of the patina, creating a bag that is entirely unique to you. Pretty special.
Fading: Each hide is organically dyed using vegetable tannins from bark, leaves and plants. Unlike chromium tanned leather the colours have a natural variation in tone, and as a result each bag will differ slightly from the next. This is part of the beauty of natural materials. To protect the rich tones of vegetable tanned leather do not leave your bag in direct sunlight. Keeping your product in its original dust bag (or a white cotton pillowcase) while not in use will help prevent colour fading and scratching.
Liquids: Please keep your bag away from liquids. If the forecast is dreich, take your brolly out with you. However if your bag does get wet (there’s no controlling Scottish weather sometimes) gently blot away any excess water that has not permeated your bag and then allow it to air dry naturally in a cool, dark space. Do not rub or use artificial heat.
When mistakes happen: If you do mark your bag use a dampened cloth and gently wipe. Look for an ‘aniline leather cleaner’ or natural leather conditioners to care for your product, making sure to test on a incospicuous part of your bag first. Light polishing or a matching colour balm will take care of any faint scratches. If you need help please get in touch and I’ll do my utmost to revive your bag.
