Cruinnich
Wooden and vegetable tanned leather sculptural basket hand made from start to finish in the North West Highlands of Scotland.
Using skills learned from my time studying traditional clinker boatbuilding, I steam-bent oak to create sculptural forms before combining them with my signature handwoven leatherwork.
Locally-sourced Scottish Oak wood sits alongside Italian vegetable-tanned leather in a combination that I feel celebrates my heritage and culture, specific to the West Coast Highlands.
Cruinnich is entirely unique, and features a perfectly rounded handle to create a full circle. The handle is attached with solid brass fittings which compliment the light fawn tone of the thread.
Cruinnich: Scottish Gaelic. Verb. 1. Collect, accumulate 2. Gather 3. Make round 4. Draw close
Materials: Scottish Oak, Italian Vegetable Tanned Leather and Nylon
Size: 46 × 45 × 32 cm
