Poit - Handwoven leather pot
‘Poit’, the Scottish Gaelic word for pot, is a handwoven, vegetable-tanned leather vessel, designed to celebrate every day moments.
These carefully crafted pieces mark my first foray into interior accessories. Each Poit can be used as you like: decoratively or pratically. A useful and beautiful (my favourite combination) container for loose items, pens, pencils or tools for whatever your craft.
Craftsmanship can elevate our everyday experiences and as such The Poit celebrates and invites you to savour the smallest of tasks, because those moments are what our lives are made up of. Craft at its best asks us to stop and notice, to be present, and to find joy in the day to day. I hope this piece will do just that for you.
Handwoven with a two-tone diagonal pattern that wraps itself around the cylindrical shape of each vessel. Tenement Green is a cool, deep teal shade inspired by tiles in a much loved Glasgow tenement close. It’s woven here with Tablet, a warm buttery tone from your favourite Scottish sweet, and finished with a soft slate grey cotton.
Dimensions: 10cm height, 9cm diameter
Italian vegetable tanned leather, handwoven in Scotland.
